Welcome to Educational Robot. Industrial robots have been around for several decades, and consumer robots have come onto the market with items like robotic vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, pool cleaners, etc.

The study of robots is gathering steam in grade schools, high schools, colleges, and research labs around the world. The “robot club” is now found in most major cities around the world.

Here’s just one example of educational robotics – with the help of Microsoft. Back in 2006, Microsoft gave a $1 million grant when it opened up the Institute for Personal Robots in Education. This initiative designs computer science teaching programs centered around a Personal Robot. Their vision is that each student will purchase a small, inexpensive robot ($15 – $35) at the bookstore which they will use throughout their classes in exploring computer science. The software which runs the robots is called Myro (My Robot).
